The Ross Summit III - 2010 will examine new data supporting the patient survival advantage of the Ross procedure, the impact of the decellularization process on the pulmonary homograft and define the technical success factors required for a life-long lasting functional autograft.

Course Objectives

  • Examine updated survival and quality-of-life data for the Ross procedure compared to other aortic valve operations.
  • Examine indications for and against the Ross procedure.
  • Identify reasons for long-term structural and functional success or failure of the Ross procedure.
  • Compare the morphology, physiology, hemodynamics, bio-mechanics and long-term function of the pulmonary root in the arterial switch and Ross operations.
  • Examine diagnostic criteria and surgical strategies to salvage a failing pulmonary autograft.
  • Examine strategies to restore the Ross procedure to the surgical “menu” of aortic valve operations, including mentoring methodology for the next generation of Ross Surgeons.
